As stated in class, your rose garden image is definitely the strongest. The way that the flowers enclose the figure in the space along with the lighting and height of the grass creates a sense of drama to accompany the murder. I also believe that your location choices were well planned since they were shot in a way that does not look specific to Huntington. Instead, your message can still be conveyed to individuals viewing your work even if they are from another region.
I feel that the park image would benefit more if it were shot at either night or early morning. There's just something about the idea of a body being unfound during those hours. I'm not convinced that a body would still be unfound during the day hours shown in this location. It just doesn't read in the same way. Also, simple digital effects and retouching would have made the garden and church images stronger. Do a transform selection and rotate the church image to make it straight. Also, try clone stamping and spot healing to remove some of the clutter on the powerlines in the garden picture.
Definitely love the church scene, despite being crooked. I think if you straightened that up, it would be a beautiful image. The lighting in the rose garden scene is really great. The purple sky does so much for it..It really breaks the mold of just being a pitch black night sky. Gives it a odd sort of feeling. I like it.
Also, the element of the shoe would be a good idea if you placed it better in the image. It is hardly seen most of the time.
However, the daytime shot just isn't strong or compelling. I wonder how it would look at night. I think it would really work well. Especially in this series.
I think the image of the church works very well with the meaning of history, adds kind of drama, if you have the body near like in the other images maybe can work and linked with them more. I just wonder. I love the garden one, the color, composition, the body among the grass, I agree to remove the remaining elements to the important role of the image.
The reflection of lights from the bridge into the water also seems correct, except that perhaps you can straighten a bit like the picture of the church, and the image of the forest at night would help connect this image with the serie.
What I love about this picture, the forest one, is that you can well appreciated that details of the shoe, I think incorporating this element more visible in other pictures would be a good idea.
