Alien Sightings in Proctorville, OH.
It was amazing! This past weekend, as I was babysitting my boss' kids, they began to tell me of some of the funny noises that they had been hearing around their neighborhood. I didn't really believe them but I played along. We were getting ready for bed that night when we heard a loud noise outside. Jonathan and Kara both ran to the backyard where we spotted an alien space ship. We stood in the backyard amazed at what we had seen! I had then recalled some of the rumors I had heard that were trying to explain the crazy noises, mostly referring to 'alien sightings' but I rarely believe those. Most of them were just crazy farmers complaining about their missing animals, but it was just assumed that the animals had escaped the gate and wandered off.
We ran to the neighbors house and hid out there until we could find out some more things. Jessy had heard that an alien couldn't get to your brain if you covered your head in aluminum foil. We all made head coverings when a strange green glow came from the window. Jessy ventured over to the window to witness the alien ship had landed in the backyard. We watched out of the window as the ship had settled from its landing. The door began to open, so we ran out the front door and hopped in my truck, I tried to crank it, but nothing happened. When I looked up, an alien was standing in front of my vehicle.

ReplyDeleteI'm really drawn to the light image with the girl & foil cap. In my opinion, the cap is an interesting element of the image. It makes me view the female more as a child because it kind of translates the thought process of a child. I think it shows the goofiness in how she believes that the material will protect her. It might work better as a whole if it were better constructed, but either way I think it is a nice detail to be added - without it I wouldn't even think of the light as possibly being an alien. I also think that the fact that you simply represented the alien in this image as light was a wise decision. It breaks the mold of the typical association of an alien as being a skinny, big-headed, large-eyed, green man, etc.
I think your ideas are coming across much better in your physically staged photos infront of the camera. You really have to be careful of lighting situations when you are montaging multiple images. I like that you are learning montaging techniques, but if you continue, you will eventually find that the smallest of details are what will make or break the image. I also don't connect with the alien ship prop because it looks too much like a toy. Alluding to aliens would work better than showing this literal prop in your scenes.
I definitely love the image of the girl and the window, I think the color of the light add a great effect to the picture, the contrast between cold and warm seems very suggestive to me, the all land ten inside the house means a safe place in contrast to the external light and bluish, cold, representing the mystery. Is an interpretation.
ReplyDeleteIn the same way I think the reflection in the glass is a good idea to introduce the subject without saying everything is a way of suggesting, emphasizes the mystery. I love it. I agree with the idea of the cap, gives meaning to the image.
As things that I think can be improved is to include the same idea idea of mystery in the other photographs connecting the images. For example using the smoke of the last image or suggest the idea of the spacecraft without this in the image.
