Miniatures
For some reason, my photos look different after I upload them to picassa. The colors are muted and they lose sharpness. Just pointing this out - not sure what the issue is.
With these miniatures, I wanted to focus on the idea of childhood and nostalgia. I originally wanted to display how the world looks different to an imaginative child. I wanted to work with the concept of childhood simply because the miniature scale reminded me of my view of childhood. I've noticed within my own life experience that everything looked different when I was younger. Places where I spent a lot of time as a kid seemed to be much larger, magical, and adventurous. I've since revisted these places and was surprised at my reaction to them. They suddenly seemed small and ordinary. There's simply an element of exploration, self-entertainment, and heightened imagination possessed by children that affect how they experience the same world adults share with them.
